When to fingerprint
DRE permits fingerprinting after applying for examination or after passing. Combined applicants can complete it with or after filing.
California resident route
Use the DRE Live Scan Service Request RE 237 and pay the current $49 DOJ/FBI processing amount plus any provider rolling fee.
Out-of-state route
Follow DRE's fingerprint-card and fee instructions rather than assuming California Live Scan is available.
Accuracy matters
Name, date of birth, Social Security number and application information must match for the response to be associated correctly.
